This is interpreted as a ripple effect from the sharp drop in AI (artificial intelligence) stocks in the U.S. stock market on the 16th (local time). However, during regular trading hours, foreign investors and other corporations engaged in bargain hunting for semiconductor stocks, averting a crash, and the stocks reversed into positive territory near the close of trading. Samsung Electronics was the top net purchase target by foreign investors (172 billion won) and institutional investors (including financial investment at 104.9 billion won and other finance at 2.4 billion won). SK Hynix saw net selling by retail investors (142.9 billion won), foreign investors (217.6 billion won), and institutional investors (244.7 billion won), but a net purchase of 605.4 billion won from other corporations pushed the stock into slightly positive territory.
